Summer vacation is winding down, and although that thought is saddening, it means fall is just around the corner! It's sometimes seen as the awkward phase between summer and winter. But the perks of the season outnumber the drawbacks. Summer vacation must come to end at some point, and what better transition into the winter months than to take advantage of the fun of fall. With so many aspects of summer to enjoy, don't forget about all the promising points of the fall season.

1. Fall Fashion

Big sweatshirts, boots, and autumn tones! The perks of dressing for fall weather is the ability to mix all your seasonal clothing together. Your summer tanks matched with your winter sweaters makes the best fall outfit. It's great to dress in warmer clothes without yet worrying about snow flurries.

2. Not-too-hot, Not-too-cold Weather

For those people who don't crave the blistering heat of summer or the frigid temps of the winter months, fall is the perfect medium. Cool winds blow through the leaves on the trees and you can even smell the fall weather.

3. Fall Foliage

There is nothing more breathtaking than driving on a tree-lined street during fall. The beautiful red and orange hues of the season make living in the mountains the place to be for the duration of fall. Fall foliage can also be seen at fall festivals. The creative use of leaves and acorns is popular during the fall festival season.

4. Home of Halloween

Fall is home to arguably the best holiday: Halloween. Scary movies on chilly fall nights is the perfect ending to any day. Not to mention, trick-or-treating wouldn't be the same in snow covered streets.

5. Sporting Events

There's nothing better than college football rivalries. The anticipation of the big game and tailgating with friends is unparalleled to any other sport. You also can't forget the beginning of the hockey season and the end of baseball season. Fall is the time when you have the selection between whatever sporting event you wish to attend.

6. Outdoor Activities

Staying in on chilly fall days can be very enjoyable, but so is taking in what fall has to offer. Haunted houses, hay rides, and picking pumpkins are popular ways to spend time. Keeping warm by the fire with friends and making Smore's and mountain pies is another fun way to enjoy the weather.

Sure, summer is a great break from school and work. But, sweat and sunburn isn't everyone's favorite. Fall offers a break from the heat just before the temperatures drop during winter. It's the perfect time to head outdoors and enjoy the weather and colors of the season.

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life.
