I haven’t been home over extended period breaks since the summer before my sophomore year of college. I almost always stay in my college town over my breaks, and over summer. This place has become my home, and I’m already dreading the day I graduate because I can’t stand to leave this place. There are plenty of reasons to go home family, high school friends, free food, and you don’t have to pay bills. As nice as those things are, I would still rather be in my college town, and here’s why:
1. Less traffic
I don’t know about you but my college town has way less traffic then home. This is partly because I go to school in the middle of no where so there is way less people, and there are also less people because most of the college goes home for the summer.
2. My friends are here
Maybe this one is just me, but most of my friends stay in or around Macomb for most of the summer. So why would I not stay with my friends, after all got to get in as much time as possible with them before graduation.
3. Its quieter
Again maybe this is just because I go to school in the middle of no where, but my college town has way less noise in the summer. It is incredible relaxing. '
4. I’m not judged for spending all day in bed
My parents tend to be a little judge when I want to spend all day in bed because I don’t have any other responsibilities. When I’m in my college town no one judges me for spending all day in bed, because my friends probably do the same thing.
5. I don’t have to go home and try to find a job
I have two jobs at school, and at home I have zero. I know from first hand experience how hard it can be to find a place that will hire you for three months, so its nice to not have to stress about how I will make money.
6). I appreciate the time at home I have
And most importantly, I appreciate the time I do get to see my family more because it doesn’t happen as often. I make the most of the little time I have because I don’t get to see them everyday.
