6 Reasons Your Sorority Sisters Are the Best Date to Formal

While this year's Formal has already come and gone, I cannot help but think about my favorite memories. From getting ready with my sisters to taking endless selfies, picking my dates will always be something special. While I love taking a handsome guy to Formal that all my sisters will obsess over, nothing beats taking a close friend and sorority sister with you instead, and here's why!

1. No awkwardness of finding a date.

We have all had those experiences when a date party or formal rolls around, and you're without a fraternity man at your side, so a sister tries to set us you with one of her boyfriend's brothers... All in all, it is a nice try and it is the thought that counts but let's be honest, Instagram filters are magic, and they can turn a dud into a stud. So take a sister! Eliminate trying to hunt down someone awkwardly, and go hit the dance floor together.

2. No expectations.

Formals are synonymous with making coolers that take hours to craft. And if you are anything like the perfectionist I am, then you know that even the slightest mistake can make you want to scream and pull your hair out. Luckily, as I have found, taking a sister does not require a craft, so you can actually spend more time finding the perfect dress or deciding which bottle of wine you'll be chugging, later that week.

3. The freedom to dance how you want to.

With a formal date comes one move and one move only, and that is the notorious bump and grind. And while that may be fun for the first three songs, sometimes you just want to bust out your inner Beyonce, go crazy, and dance like no one is watching. And who better than to do that with than with your sisters? They have no problem joining in on all the embarrassing moves you cannot wait to bust out, from the running man to the cabbage patch kid.

4. Did someone mention food?

After a few bottles of wine and x amount of regrettable shots, it is always nice to see food at any given dance. Almost anything looks good, even fried cauliflower (don't knock it until you try it). But nothing sucks more than wanting to throw down food in the corner of the room, when your date wants to continue dancing through the night. Like, I'm sorry, but a girl has got to eat. Thank god for sisters, because when you're hungry, they are too. They will be there right along side you, eating a tray of meatballs and hard cookies.

5. The Selfie.

Sure, every date wants a photo or two for the books, but everyone knows the "one and done" rule does not apply to pictures, during the night of a date party or formal. Every girl needs her date photo, her squad picture, the roomie photo, the fake laughing photos, and the fierce selfies.... A sister gets it, men do not.

6. The end of the night: Bed.

After one too many drinks, and trying to dance in heels all night, comes the time where the evening has ended, and it is time to crash. Two seconds in the door, chances are, I am barefoot and ready to relax, but with a date comes his expectations of a little something more, and I am certainly not talking about sweatpants and Netflix. That is why being with my sisters, means that my dates can get in their sweats too, and we can head to the chapter room, and watch Friends until we pass out.

Don't get me wrong I love going to formals with guys because they are a lot of fun but sometimes it is nice to enjoy the time with your sisters, after all you why wouldn't you want to go with your best friends? Isn't that what being in a sorority is about?

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
