Some people love spending time in the car, others despise it. Some love looking out the window, others will puke if they take their eyes off the ground. No matter what kind of person you are, you should appreciate a good road trip. Spending all day in the car may seem agonizing, but it’s not! Let me tell you why…
1. Jamming out to music
High School Musical? Post Malone? Justin Bieber? Bring it on! There’s not much you can do in the car besides listen to music, which means you are about to spend hours singing at the top of your lungs to your favorite songs. Just make sure there’s something good ready to go on your phone when someone hands you the AUX chord!
2. Eating loads of junk food
You’re on the wide-open road, did you really expect to find a salad bar or organic produce store at every rest stop? Get ready to munch on chips and candy, because that’s really all you’re going to find. Well, that and McDonald’s.
3. Spending quality time with the people around you
You’re all going to be crammed in a tiny space to the point where its uncomfortable, but if that’s not bonding, I don’t know what is! There’s no doubt you’re going to have deep conversations and make special memories on the journey. By the end, everyone in the car will feel closer to each other than they ever thought possible.
4. Playing silly car games
“Wait… did I just see a license plate from Ohio? I don’t have that one on my list yet!” Finding license plates from as many states as possible, waving to truck drivers and punching each other in the arm whenever a Volkswagen drives by are silly, but entertaining. Games like that help pass the time and makes looking at the cars next to you interesting.
5. Getting lost
It doesn’t matter whether or not you use your GPS, sometimes getting lost is inevitable. Getting off the wrong exit on the highway or driving past the road you were supposed to make a left turn at can completely mess up your route. In those cases, you just have to stay calm, figure it out and think about how funny of a story this will be tomorrow.
6. The feeling of accomplishment when you reach your destination
You did it! You managed to get from point a to point b in one piece. Congratulations! You probably never want to get in the car again, but don’t forget that now you have to survive the drive back home…
