I did not do as much as I thought I'd do.

6 Reasons I Regret My Winter Break

I believe for myself and everyone else we may have done some things during our winter break that we regret, or we told ourselves that we were going to do certain things and never did them. Either way, as we look back on our break we can reflect on things we wish we would have done or not done at all…

1. I slept the days away

I would stay up until 5 am and wake up at 3 pm. Anywhere and anytime I slept. I slept in the morning, afternoon and night. On the couch, on my bed, on the floor and sitting up.

2. I didn’t spend a lot of time with friends

Due to me sleeping my days away I didn’t get the chance to see my high school friends that much. I only hung out with one once and it was only for a couple hours. I wish I spent more time with them when I had the chance.

3. I didn’t drive that much

One thing I miss the most while I’m at school is being able to just take a drive. The only time I got in my car was to drive to get food. Other than that I didn’t do much driving.

4. I spent all my Christmas money

Those after Christmas sales really killed me. Just walking past all my favorite stores and seeing the 50% off, 70% off and buy one, get one sales, I spent all my Christmas money in the first week. Will I regret it when I get back to school? Probably.

5. Food, leaving it at that

The thing I was most excited about when coming home was no dining hall food. Throughout all of winter break, I really did not have many home cooked meals. I ate out a lot more than expected, but at least it was better than campus food.

6. Not soaking up my pet enough

I miss having a pet at school. Refer back to number one: I really didn’t come out of my room much. So the only time that I saw my pets were if I went downstairs for food.

Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
