I had never been one for workout classes in the past as I always enjoyed performing my own workouts, but after my sister introduced me to Orangetheory Fitness, I immediately became hooked and loved the workout each class delivered me. If it were up to me, I would make sure all individuals join Orangetheory. Whether you are looking to lose weight, become more toned, or simply stay fit, OTF is the place for you. And here are six simple reasons why you must join!

1. Everyone of all Fitness levels are WELCOME

Sometimes, workout classes can be intimidating as some individuals might be extremely fit and in shape. But, at OTF there are members of all ages and sizes. In addition, you must focus on your workouts so there is no time to look around and compare yourself to others.

2. The Coaches are Motivational

One of my favorite parts has been forming a relationship with the instructors. At the beginning when only attending a handful of classes, they immediately knew my name. Now, they are always there to give me a high five after crushing a workout and are always there to help instruct me if a workout is not being done correctly or if I could be pushing myself more.

3. The Music is Phenomenal

I have spend an absurd amount of time trying to find their playlists on Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music... you name it. Each class provides new music that is extremely upbeat and will make you want to dance while also push yourself to do your best.

4. The Heart Rate Monitors Help You Analyze Your Workout

I am someone who enjoys tracking my steps and by being mandatory to have a heart rate monitor, one is able to monitor how many calories are burned, heart rate, and how long you were in a certain heart rate zone. It is great for keeping track of your goals. In addition, OTF offers an app where you can keep track of each and every workout.

5. The "After Burn" Effect

The science behind the program Orange Theory is “excess post-exercise oxygen consumption” (EPOC). If you are able to keep your heart rate in the 'orange' zone for at least 12 minutes you will continue to burn more calories after your workout. This means true, effective results!

6. Simplicity of Booking a Class

The Orangetheory App easily allows you to book or cancel a class. In addition, you can sign up for as many classes as you desire for the next couple of weeks!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
