6 Reasons to Go Home for Spring Break

Who wouldn't want to go to the gulf coast somewhere in 60 degree weather where you can be drunk from 9am- 11pm, eat nothing but goldfish for three meals a day, and be surrounded by twenty females for five days straight?! The answer is this girl right here. When deciding on where I wanted my Spring Break destination to be this year, I quickly found myself weighing my options; and this is how I decided on Sweet Home California.

  1. Nights with over 10 hours of sleep
Most students rarely get a full night of sleep due to homework, Netflix, sorority activities, social activities, the distractions of living with roommates, and did I mention Netflix?
  2. My own comfortable bed
As much as you love your bed at school with it's extra thick foam topper, there is nothing like your bed at home. Sorry it's just not possible.
  3. Home cooked meals
Every college student that lives on campus has to agree with this one because the BLUU is simply nowhere, nor will it ever be, as good as your mom's cooking. For the students who live off campus, I know you think you are a great cook. But you're not, you are simply better than the BLUU, and you will quickly realize that when you return home.
  4. NO DRAMA ZONE
If being surrounded by twenty of your pledge sisters for five days straight actually sounds like a good time to you, then you clearly have never done it before. As much as you think you love your sisters, you quickly realize that when you are hung over and they are dancing on the table singing “Timber" for the seventh time this hour, you actually will hate them. But hey, you asked for it right?
  5. Spring Break Bod
…..hahaha what is that? TCU's Christmas break and Spring break are way too close for anyone to completely work off those excessive peppermint bark brownies that your chef cousin made for every family party you attended between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.
  6. Shopping with Mom
Your mom all of a sudden is about fourteen times more willing to buy you clothes if it means she gets to spend time with you. It's a fact. Take advantage of this!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
