6 Reasons To Get Excited For Autumn

Bikini Season is saying it’s final farewells and before we know it, crunchy leaves and cardigans will be upon us. While Autumn can only mean that the dreadful cold winter is approaching right behind it (yikes!), there are still an abundance of activities to look forward to as the new season approaches. If you’re trying to find some solace in the temperature drops to come, check out all of the reasons to be as excited as a Basic B**ch, wearing Uggs and drinking a pumpkin spiced latte.

1. ‘Tis the season for boots and scarves

My favorite thing about fall is the outfits, hands down. Maybe it’s because a big cozy sweater is the perfect weapon to hide the summer bod that was never actually achieved (whoops), but there’s nothing cuter and cozier than knits and boots. And the tans aren’t completely faded yet, so you look a lot less pale than you do in the brutal winter.

2. Pumpkin flavored…everything

You may not be excited for summer to end, but Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks, and let’s face it, pretty much every coffee shop everywhere is. Why? Because pumpkin is oh-so-popular. I personally have never tried a pumpkin spiced latte before, but I have to say, even Dunkin’ Donuts’ pumpkin flavored donuts and munchkins are delicious if you’re not a huge fan of the drinks, like most people are.

3. Football Season

Even if you’re not a sports fan, there’s just something timeless about going to a football game. Wearing a big hoodie and hot chocolate feels 10 times better when you’re sitting in the bleachers and watching a good game with your friends or family. Whether you’re at your high school’s game, college, or just watching it on TV and eating wings in your living room, football is the best way to bond and spend time with people who mean the most.

4. Back to School

Now that school’s back in session, you get to see your friends a lot more often. College students can head back to school, while high school students get to spend the day with their friends as well. Even though the homework part isn’t as fun, you can still make it more enjoyable by taking it to a Starbucks or Barnes and Noble to get into school-mode.

5. Halloween and Thanksgiving

Fall holidays are favorite holidays. Halloween means candy, haunted houses and hayrides, dressing up as literally whatever you want, and cute home decorations. And Thanksgiving means the three best F's ... Food, Family, and Friends. Autumn is the best season to get festive and appreciate the holidays.

6. Weekend trips

Although you can't spend the weekend laying on the beach like you can in the summer, there are still so many trips to take in the fall. The Poconos in Pennsylvania is a great fall getaway, and there are usually tons of festivals up there to see. You can spend the weekend hiking, horseback riding, or simply enjoying the beautiful lake and mountain scenery.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
