6 Reasons Why You Should Have A Fall Wedding

Throughout my whole life, I have always wanted to have a fall wedding. It sounds lame, right? It actually is! Enough about me, though. Fall weddings are trending now, more than ever, and people are booking weddings for October and November more frequently. There's hay, pumpkins, leaves, cider and crisp air awaiting us, so here is a nice little list of reasons to have a fall wedding. (Disclaimer: These are merely opinions. Great opinions, mind you, but just opinions.)

1. Fall is better than spring or summer.

Who wants to be all hot and sticky at a spring or summer wedding? Not me. Not anyone. Sweating is terrible and gross. Fall is calming, cool and pretty with the falling leaves. I, for one, imagine an outdoor wedding with arching trees and leaves slowly falling down. It's a beautiful sight.

2. It's easier to actually have a wedding.

In "wedding season," which occurs in spring and summer, everybody gets married. There are more weddings in that time than times I go to sleep (which is a lot). It's better to have a wedding that has no set time to end as caterers and others prepare for another reception.

3. Leaves! Leaves everywhere!

Nature is beautiful, and during fall, all the leaves are coming down, coating the ground and leaving trails of yellows, oranges, reds and browns. The mixture of the warm colors and the satisfying sound of crunchy leaves makes a person feel young and lively.

4. You could have an interesting anniversary.

Think of this: a Halloween wedding. Boom! Mind blown. Give out some candy to kids at the reception, have the bridesmaids and groomsmen wear awesome costumes; all is well. Then on the anniversary, the couple can go out with their kids trick or treating or go to a Halloween party. All is well and good.

5. Pumpkins are in season.

Pumpkins are no joke. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes with extra pumpkin spice, orange, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin everything. And it's all there for your wedding. It sounds so great to get married when there are pumpkins around.

6. Apple cider is also great.

Apple cider tastes best in the fall. No absolute reason why, but it always tastes better when you can see nature take its course—as in, standing at the windows with a glass of cider, watching the leaves come off the trees and blow through the wind. The world is so much more at peace in the fall.

Though there are many more reasons why people should have a fall wedding, it's up to you when you decide to marry. In my opinion, fall is just a beautiful time and so great for a wedding.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
