Let us all be grateful for this day, because it is now officially Fall! Not that summer isn't also wonderful, because who doesn't love long beach days and soaking up the sun? But there's just something about the energy of fall that makes it impossible to stop me from being giddy with excitement. The leaves are changing color and the air is getting crisp, so here's six reasons why Fall is undeniably great.
1. The Earth is no longer on fire.
As much as we all love summer vacation, we can all pretty much agree that, down here in the South especially, it's hot as blue blazes outside. There is no other option but to sweat and that is the absolute worst, but with Fall we are met with relief from the triple digit thermostat and get to enjoy endless cool breezes. With Fall, we can finally say goodbye to the days that feel like we're living in Satan's armpit and say hello to refreshing afternoons in the park.
2. The clothing options triple.
Say goodbye to your tanks and sandals and say hello to sweaters and boots and scarves and mittens and- Shall I continue? ...and jackets and beanies and coats. I could go on forever. The options are endless. Plus Fall is that perfect in-between season that allows us the liberty of wearing our winter clothing while also keeping some of our lighter summer pieces still in the mix. What a great time to be alive.
3. Halloween is the BOMB.
If you're sitting here reading this and wondering why Halloween is so great then get out now before I kick you out. Outrageous costumes? Endless candy? What more could a person want? NOTHING I SAY. Still, there are those select few people who believe that one's enthusiasm for the holiday should wear thin as one gets older and deals with more responsibility. This line of thinking is not worth listening to. I'm responsible, but if you think I'm not going to be walking down the street as Eleven from "Stranger Things" on Halloween then you've got another thing coming.
4. The Movies are masterpieces.
With Fall comes Halloween and with Halloween comes some of the best films ever. Hocus Pocus, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, etc. are all so iconic and perfect for viewing while wrapped up in a blanket burrito. Not saying that these films aren't awesome during the rest of the year, but you tend get less weird looks if they are screened during Fall.
5. College Football has arrived full force.
*Cue fight song now.* College Football has the ability to make or break the weekends during the fall semester. The hype and the energy that comes with the season is something that can't be measured. It can only be experienced and enjoyed for a few precious months of the year and people don't shy away from making the most of football Saturdays.
6. The Food is out of this world.
I'm sorry, but can we just take a minute to thank the sweet Lord for blessing us with a holiday entirely centered on a feast? Halloween is wonderful for gorging ourselves with all types of sweets, but Thanksgiving is the day that takes the cake for all things food. Literally. Fall harvest blesses us with pumpkin flavor treats, pies of all types and hot chocolate thats to die for. Stuffing probably has the most fitting name for any food, because that's exactly what Fall is going to entail. Me, stuffing my face with delicious recipes that can't be compared to anything else. Apple pie, anyone?
