6 Reasons You Need To See 'Dear Evan Hansen'

Since its Broadway opening in November 2016, Dear Evan Hansen has been the talk of the theater world. The musical follows Evan Hansen, a high school senior with social anxiety, who finds himself in a situation that may or may not grant him a spot among his classmates. The show's tagline reads: "A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he's always wanted: a chance to finally fit in." If you aren't already buying tickets, here are six reasons why you should go see Dear Evan Hansen.

1. Ben Platt is the perfect Evan.

Do you recognize Ben Platt as Evan? It won't take long for Pitch Perfect fans to realize that Benji has moved from Barden's all-male acapella group to the Broadway stage. If you loved Benji's cover of "I've Got the Magic In Me," you'll love his songs as the main character of Dear Evan Hansen. His performance and solos are most definitely swoon-worthy.

2.The songs are emotion-filled and relatable.

One of the reasons why Dear Evan Hansen has been so successful is because of it's relatable music. Many reviewers have commented that the show is about life and how we all experience both the good and bad. The original cast recording was just released this month and has earned a spot near the top of the iTunes and Billboard charts. The songs are both heart-warming and hopeful, my favorites being "Waving Through a Window," "For Forever," and "Only Us."

3.You may already be familiar with Laura Dreyfuss.

Zoey, Evan's crush, is played by Laura Dreyfuss, who played Madison in the sixth season of Glee. If you enjoyed Laura's singing in Glee, you're going to love her songs in the musical even more.

4. The show brings awareness to mental health.

Dear Evan Hansen deals with some heavy topics, specifically anxiety and suicide. By bringing attention to mental health on stage, the show reminds audiences that no one is alone when facing difficulty with mental health.

5. Evan and Zoey have great chemistry .

Ben and Laura's chemistry as Evan and Lauren is evident on stage and shines through on the cast album. Their recording of "Only Us" makes you feel like you're right at the show (and you can watch them record it here).

6. It's bound to get a ton of Tony nominations.

Many critics have called Dear Evan Hansen the best musical of this Broadway season and praised the cast's performances, especially Ben Platt's. I'll definitely be watching that night, hoping that they perform during the ceremony and take some awards home.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
