6 Reasons Why College Students Are Unmotivated The Rest Of The Semester

Since we just spent the last few days at home enjoying time with our loved ones and don't really want to be back at school, I thought I would share the reasons why students are unmotivated at this point in the semester. Here are six things that are holding us back from smiling during the last month of school:

1. Daylight Savings

I don't know about you guys, but daylight savings is still getting to me. I hate that when its 5:00 p.m. it feels like its 9:00 p.m. I never really feel like doing anything because I'm exhausted.

2. Winter

Snow is the absolute worst. Everything is wet, damp, slippery and cold. Why would you want to put yourself through that.

3. Homework

When you have 5 projects, 15 papers, and 20 other homework assignments due by Tuesday, and all you really want to do is watch Netflix and sleep for 5 hours... Because professors just really want to see how much they can give you until you break.

4. People

It's at that point in the semester where people just exist and annoy the crap out of you because you haven't slept in three days and don't have time to deal with anyone, and lets be honest, you don't even have time to deal with yourself.

5. We start freaking out about life

We registered for classes and are wondering if what we chose to do with our lives is really what we want to do.

6. Finals

We all know that finals are coming and we are seriously dreading it, so we make Netflix a top priority.

Yes, it's that time of the year and I hope that everyone can find some motivation to carry on, but if you can't, don't worry, you can always watch "10 Things I Hate About You" on Netflix.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
