6 Reasons Bruce Springsteen Is Still "The Boss"

Once again the city of Philadelphia was lucky enough to experience a two concert performance by Bruce Springsteen and the legendary E-Street band. Bruce Springsteen has been on the top of the Rock and Roll community since the seventies, and his Philadelphia concerts are some of his greatest concerts. Bruce Springsteen owns the stage and rock music as a whole, so naturally his fan based dubbed him "The Boss". So here are 6 reasons Bruce Springsteen is "The Boss".

1. He's almost 70 and in better shape than most 20-year-olds.

If you watch any live song on youtube, you will see that Bruce Springsteen has a very physical presence. He runs through the crowd, jumps up and down, climbs on equipment, and crowd surfs often. The coolest part about it is that he is almost seventy, and can do all of these things. He truly proves that age is just a number.

2. It's all about the fans.

Like stated before Bruce Springsteen is getting old. He is also rich. To put it frankly, He doesn't need to tour for money, and he could easily say "I'm done, I'm too old", but the fans want more concerts and that's what they get. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are all about making the fans happy. At the concerts, they even devote about half of the concert to requests to the crowds. He invites crowd members to come dance with him and every once in a while brings fans up to even sing with him. Now, that is real fan appreciation.

3. He uses his fame to help people.

Every time there's a disaster, He is there to help. During Katrina and Superstorm Sandy, Bruce always participated in charity concerts and fundraisers to help the ailing. In my opinion, his greatest contribution came after 9/11, when he dedicated his new album to the victims, and his song "The Rising" became the anthem for the entire country recovering from that tragedy.

4. He experiments with all types of sounds.

The typical rock band has drums, bass, guitar, and a lead singer. Not the E Street Band, which has all of this things, but add so much more. Bruce's band features piano, organ, three guitars, drums, a bass, saxophone, percussion, ukulele, harmonica, a horn section, and probably more. This creates so many interesting sounds, which makes a plethora of great music.

5. He shares his talents with other musicians.

Besides collaborating with an uncountable number of other musical legends, Bruce Springsteen has a history of being extremely generous to other performers. At least two songs, written by Bruce, have gone on to become huge hits for other bands.

"Because the Night" and "Blinded by the Light" made both Patti Smith and Manfred Mann household names, both songs were written and originally performed by Bruce Springsteen

6. His live shows are the longest in history.

Go see any live performer from today's generation, They all follow the same formula. The venue starts letting people in about an hour before any music starts. An opening act comes out and they usually are underwhelming. Then, there is another half hour of sitting around. Then the main performer comes out and plays one set for about an hour and twenty minutes. Then you go home. Not Bruce Springsteen. A normal Bruce Springsteen concert last around three to four hours and he may stop once for 15 minutes to catch his breath. On Wednesday, in Philadelphia, he broke the world record for the longest live concert. You get your money's worth.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
