6 Quotes That Will Get You Out of Your Head

If you’re anything like me, overthinking is a way of life. You cannot understand how someone can simply think about something for a rational amount of time and make decisions quickly. Your head is full of “what if’s” and “how come’s.” You have probably twisted situations in your mind and then had to deal with the repercussions. Overthinking is essentially playing games with yourself. You are making yourself believe crazy scenarios that are probably never going to happen.

If you find yourself overthinking, you are not alone. My friend, we are in this together, but lets stop doing that. It’s not a fun life to live. These are some quotes that help me stop overthinking:

1. “The more you overthink the less you will understand.” –Habeeb Akande

By spending so much time thinking about another person’s actions instead of talking to them and getting their perspective, we are not giving ourselves the opportunity to understand the reality of the situation.

2. “The sharpest minds often ruin their lives by overthinking the next step, while the dull win the race with eyes closed.” –Bethany Brookbank

Thinking is a sign of intelligence, but when we think too much we are blinding ourselves to the world around us.

3. “Don’t overthink yourself out of something good!” –Akosua Dardaine Edwards

This is my biggest downfall. I am the queen of ruining a perfectly good situation by overthinking. Let yourself enjoy the good, not turn it into something bad.

4. “Thinking too much leads to paralysis by analysis. It’s important to think things through, but many use thinking as a means of avoiding action.” –Robert Herjavec

Do not let your thoughts go in vain. If you are devoting that much time to thinking about something, you need to stop thinking and actually do something about it.

5. “Don’t overthink things. Sometimes you can convince your head not to listen to your heart. Those are the decisions you regret for the rest of your life.” –Leah Braemel

When you are stuck in your head it is nearly impossible to remember what your heart wants. As corny as it sounds, follow your heart.

6. “Overthinking will not empower you over things that are beyond your control. So, let it be if its meant to be and cherish the moment.” –Mahsati A

Go with the flow. Don’t try to force any situation, it will not work out in the long run. Enjoy it while it lasts, and let it go if it’s not meant to be.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
