The last few weeks of the semester are by far the hardest. Professors love to wait until mid-April to pile on research papers, projects, and homework. And, of course, all of this is on top of studying for finals that could make or break your grade for the course. You may feel like there's no way you'll make it through with your GPA and sanity intact. From one struggling student to another, here are a few quotes that may inspire you to persevere.

1. "It always seems impossible until it's done." - Nelson Mandella

Every semester, the same thoughts cross your mind before finals: "There's no way I can make a high enough grade on my final to bring my grade up," or, "There's no way I can get all these assignments submitted on time." Then, you do exactly the things you told yourself you couldn't. So, just go ahead and drop the word "impossible" from your vocabulary, and these next few weeks will be a lot easier.

2. "You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it." - Margaret Thatcher

Cumulative finals are every college student's worst enemy. You may have to completely relearn all the information you learned for your previous tests. Those concepts that kicked your butt early on are back again. But, when you study them again and again, you finally gain clarity. Keep battling, and eventually you'll be the one kicking butt.

3. "Do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do." - Oprah Winfrey

College is the pathway to your future life and your dream career. Right now, you have to study, give up sleep, and work like a maniac to get through school. Eventually though, you'll be doing what you are passionate about. When the stress gets too overbearing, and you want to give up, think about why you're here. Think about the career you are pursuing and all the amazing things you'll do with your degree. All the hardship you are facing now will be well worth it in the end.

4. "You keep putting one foot in front of the other and then one day you look back and you've climbed a mountain." - Tom Hiddleston

Mastering exam material doesn't happen all at once. Doing a little bit every day is the best way to really, completely learn something. It seems like you're not doing much at all, but, after a week or two, you realize that you've accomplished a great deal. So, try work a bit at a time rather than cramming last minute.

5. "Wherever you are, be all there." - Jim Elliot

It is so hard to make it through finals when all you can think about is the summer ahead of you. You are so close, and all you want is for these last weeks to fly by. Try to stay in the moment and focus on your finals. You'll definitely lose all motivation to study if you're looking too far ahead.

6. "Failure is a bruise, not a tattoo." - Jon Sinclair

As you know by now, things don't always work out how we want them to. Sometimes, even if we try our best, we are going to fail. I beg you to never look at these failures as permanent states. If you fail a class, you can retake it. If your GPA isn't perfect, it won't matter in 5 years. Learn from your mistakes and use them to better yourself. Do not let them defeat you.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
