6 Quick and Easy Summer Hairstyles

Summer's finally here and as exciting as it is to not have to hand in anymore papers or take anymore tests, one thing all of us girls have in common regarding this upcoming humid weather is our crazy, frizzy hair catastrophes. If you're anything like me you're best friend is probably a blow dryer and straightener. But have no fear, here are some quick and easy hair styles that can be done in under five minutes.

1. French Braid

Whether it's one braid straight back or two down the sides, this cute summer look works for anyone! It only takes a few minutes and you'll stay nice and cool in the summer sun. If you don't know how to braid, ask a friend or watch a tutorial on YouTube (that's how I learned).

2. Half Up / Half Down

The best thing about this cute style is that it can be done a ton of ways. Pull back two pieces from the front or part your hair completely in half to get this look. My personal favorite is the half up bun, it takes less than ten seconds and it's super easy to throw up and head to the beach.

3. Messy Bun

Okay so apparently everyone in the world can rock this simple summer hairstyle, except me. I love this messy bun paired with a cute headband, sunglasses on your head (which is what I use in place of a headband) or just by itself.

4. Beach Waves

Beach waves are the perfect summer look for those who don't like to keep their hair tied back. Everyone has their own way of getting this look, but here's what I do:

Step 1. Shower

Step 2: Let your hair air dry for a couple minutes until it's not dripping wet any more, but don't let it completely dry - you want it to be a little bit damp.

Step 3: Run mousse through your hair from roots to ends.

Step 4: Tie your hair in a low bun that sits right on the back of your neck while you finish getting ready (putting on clothes, doing your makeup, etc).

Step 5: Once you're ready, blow dry your hair on low for 2-3 minutes, leaving it in the bun.

Step 6: Take your hair out of the bun and mess it around with your hands a little.

Step 7: Spray your hair with some texturizing hair spray or sea salt spray. (I recommend Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray).

Step 8: Style as desired. Throw in a small clip or a headband and you're good to go!

5. Sock Bun

Not quite a messy bun, this hairstyle can be dressed up OR down. This classy look can be thrown together to hang around with friends or slicked back tight for a night out in the city.

6. Dutch Braid

Or what my mom referred to as the "Kardashian Braid," the dutch braid is very similar to the french braid. The biggest difference is this one's level of popularity. This style has been seen on many celebrities including Khloe Kardashian (pictured above), Kylie Jenner and Ariana Grande - and it's so cute to rock all summer long, for virtually any occasion.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
