6 Pinterest DIY Projects I Want To Do

I would love to do these, but odds are, I will never get to doing them.

6 Pinterest DIY Projects I Want To Do

Ever since I created my Pinterest account a couple years ago, I have been searching for those perfect do-it-yourself (DIY) projects that will make my life simpler. I have an entire board on my Pinterest dedicated to DIY projects. Since I created the board over two years ago, I have completed exactly one of the 179 pinned projects.

The pins on my board range from Valentine’s Day projects to bath bomb recipes. The one project I have completed is a crayon art canvas of the world. It turned out very well, if I say so myself.

I would love to get all 179 projects done, but being realistic, I will be lucky if I get 10 of them done.

1. I would love to do online calligraphy classes, but who has the time?

Between an internship, a summer job taking up 30-40 hours a week and hanging out with my friends and family while I am home for summer break, I don’t have much time to spare. Any time where I don’t have anything to do is spent watching Netflix.

2. This is one project that I might have more motivation to do: a shadowbox frame featuring my travels in Italy.

Anybody that knows me knows that I recently traveled to Italy over spring break. I have been looking for a way to display my little souvenirs, tickets from different places and pictures from the travels. But once again, who actually has time for this? It would be a really awesome way to display my travels.

3. I would love this in my room. Where would I put it? I don’t know.

This would be incredibly handy. I have over 400 books in my room. I have them piled under my desk, on my book shelf, on top of my desk, in my closet, under my bed, on top of my nightstand -- you name it, and there are probably books there. I don’t know how to use power tools or construct anything like this, so this would really be a project for my dad. Maybe a Christmas present idea for this upcoming year?

4. A book that says “Book Lover” would be the perfect addition to my room.

This would match perfectly with the chair from above. What better way to say “I love books” than to fold words into books? I don’t think I have the patience to do this, though. I would get aggravated, and it would not look good. But maybe I will give it a try. (I probably won’t -- who has the time?)

5. Chalkboard Paint. Enough said.

If I could, I would make every wall in my room a chalkboard wall. With this easy DIY recipe for chalkboard paint, I can! What would I write on the chalkboard? I’m not sure. I just think it is really cool. Whether or not I would actually do it, I’m not sure.

6. There are hundreds of projects you can use washi tape to complete.

This is one that I might actually get to. In order to do so, I have to order tape, find a ruler and figure out how to do it. If I search “washi tape” on Pinterest for tips, there will be hundreds more projects that will show up...

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
