With the New Year approaching, my mind starts thinking about New Year Resolutions that I want to set for myself. So I thought that I would share them with everyone in order to hold myself accountable! Just a warning, some of them may seem little and juvenile but I really want to make 2018 one of the best years of my life.
1. Lose Weight
I know that this one is the most common New Years Resolution, and I have said it for years. But this coming year is going to be different and I am committed to truly losing some weight. I want to overall be more healthy.
2. Become More Artistic
My mind functions more on facts then abstract, but I really want to challenge and expand my mind to where I can learn to look at the world through different eyes. So whether this is learning how to sketch, learn how to play the guitar, or learning how to take professional photographs, I just want to learn some kind of artistic skill and not base everything just on facts.
3. Travel More
I already know that I am traveling to California for Spring Break but I also want to explore more of my 'backyard'. I have the Great Smokey Mountains right at my back door and I have not truly explored them yet. I don't have to travel outside the country or state to explore this world's beauty.
4. Read More
I have always loved to read, but recently I have only been reading for school, so I really want to start reading for pleasure again. This could be due to the fact that I may be sick of reading law books, but I want something different in my life.
5. Focus More On People
I am guilty of maybe watching Netflix or YouTube more than interacting with other human beings. I am limiting my time spent streaming so that I can focus on creating more meaningful relationships with others. You can learn more from other people than what you can learn binge-watching your favorite show.
6. Be Happy
This year I am going to focus on just being me, having fun, just being happy. We get so caught up in what the world wants us to do that we forget what makes us happy. I am going to stop thinking about what the world wants and focus more on what makes me happy. I am living for me, not for someone else.
