6 New Year Resolutions To Follow

Let's be honest, we all make New Year Resolutions that we never stick to. Finding a resolution isn't the hard part; it's following them. So, perhaps we set our expectations for our resolutions too high. Little do we realize, there are simple resolutions we can follow. Here are 6 resolutions you can make in the New Year, or for that matter, any day of the year.

1. Exercise

I know what you're thinking. Everyone makes this a New Year resolution, right? Well maybe you're thinking too far into this one. Exercising doesn't have to be a daily task of going to the gym and working out. Exercising can be as simple as walking more or doing chores around the house.

2. Stay Positive

Staying positive is a great New Year resolution. Try to get rid of all the negativity in your life. Being positive creates less stress and will make the New Year not only a better year for you, but a healthier year for you.

3. Eat Healthier

Of course, I know we've all tried this resolution. Eating healthier doesn't just mean dieting and cutting out all of your favorite foods. You can do something as simple as adding more vegetables on your plate and drinking more water.

4. Make Time for Yourself

It's important to make time for yourself. Don't force yourself to be everywhere at once. Find a safe space and do something you enjoy every once in awhile.

5. Meet New People

This resolution doesn't mean cutting out people in the New Year that you've already met, it means keeping them and meeting more people. It's always good to meet new people because it could lead to better opportunities and expands your social life. Besides, you can never have too many friends, right?

6. Get Involved

Do something different. Join a club, get a job, participate in community service, raise awareness. There's always something you can do to get involved. I believe this is a great resolution to follow.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
