With Santa’s arrival only days away, the world is fervently embracing Christmas cheer in any way possible. Michael Buble’s holiday album is blaring through every department store’s speakers and particularly festive souls are donning their ugly sweaters with pride.

But perhaps one of the most beloved aspects of Christmas time is the glorious display of lights. There is something so magical about their illumination in the night that puts any person, no matter the age, in the Christmas spirit. If you are especially enthusiastic about seeing these wondrous creations, I have created a special list for you (and we’re not talking about naughty or nice). If you’ve seen all there is to see around your local neighborhoods, or you want to take your Christmas light appreciation to a new level, check out some of these events going on. Their grandeur is sure to take your breath away.

1. Callaway Garden, Fantasy in Lights

With over 8 million lights, you are sure to be dazzled. This beacon in the night has been a favorite of Georgia residents for many years as it boasts 15 different holiday scenes and admittance into their very own Christmas village where visitors are able to take photos with Santa or eat at one of the delicious restaurants they have on site.

2. Lake Lanier, Magical Night of Lights

For 7 straight miles, in the warmth and comfort of your car, be prepared for a wondrous show put on by Lake Lanier. Turn up your Christmas tunes and enjoy scenes of glittering carousels and saluting toy soldiers as you venture through the delightful program. Once you’ve finished, make sure to stop into their Holiday Village to roast some Marshmallows by a cozy bonfire.

3. Stone Mountain Park Christmas

This family friendly event at the famed Granite mountain will have you starting a tradition. Not only do they boast an impressive 2 million light display, you also have the opportunity to enjoy live performances from Rudolph and his gang, take a ride on the Singalong Train, or witness the magical Christmas parade with a special arrival from Jolly old Saint Nick.

4. Atlanta Botanical Garden, Garden Lights

If you love the hustle and bustle of the city, then Atlanta’s botanical gardens are right up your alley. Make a day of it by visiting the local attractions like the Wonderful World of Coke or The Georgia Aquarium and end your day with a visit to the Botanical Gardens for a lovely walk through their modernesque display. The Orchestral orbs are one of a kind LED wonders that shine their colors in tandem with holiday music while the lovely Earth goddess sculpture becomes an ice goddess with cascading electric blue hair.

5. Centennial Olympic Park, Holiday Lights

In the heart of downtown Atlanta, bask under the glow of the city’s skyline as well as the fabulous spectacle of lights within Atlanta’s famed Olympic park. Simply walk through the many enchanting scenes or gaze at them from Atlanta’s own ice outdoor ice rink. A surely romantic getaway, all that you are missing is the mistletoe.

6. Six Flags Over Georgia, Holiday in the Park


Take the best amusement park rides and combine them with a stunning Christmas display and you get the ultimate combination of fun and cheer. Perfect for thrill seekers and those who love Bugs and his crew dressed in holiday garb, this exciting event transforms Georgia’s beloved theme park into a fantasy wonderland. The entire park from Gotham city to Acrophobia is doused in lights and celebrating the most wonderful time of the year.
