It's finally March! With only a few weeks left of cold weather, we have to try our best to stay as warm as we can during this time! For me, I am always cold, and this time of year can be seriously brutal, especially now that I have to walk to class. I have made a small list of just a few things I personally consider vital to staying warm and comfortable while facing these last few cold weeks:

1. Hats

Some people feel hats are pointless, while others consider them a given! Whatever you chose, just know that wearing a hat is the first step to staying warm! My dad always says, "heat escapes from your head!

2. Scarves

Whether you decide to wear a scarf or a turtleneck, something covering your neck helps keep you warm when facing the cold. For me, my nose is always FREEZING, so I like to cover my nose and mouth with my scarf or turtle neck while walking outside.

3. Layers

During super cold days, try wearing multiple undershirts, sweater, sweatshirts, etc., all under a nice warm winter jacket! It may look a little odd, but it makes such a difference! In addition, tuck your undershirt(s) into your pants to keep the layers tight to your skin and keep you warmer. I also love to layer my pants! This one definitely sounds odd but is barely noticeable and makes a HUGE difference. My favorite is to wear a nice warm and tight pair of leggings under thick jeans.

4. Hand Warmers

I know these are easy to forget, but keeping hand warmers in your pockets keep your hands and sides so nice and toasty, which warms up your whole body!

5. Mittens

Gloves are great, but mittens are incredible. They let your fingers warm up each other! It's like your hands get to be indoors while your outside! And the best is putting your hand warmers inside your mittens!

6. Fuzzy Socks

Wearing fuzzy socks on top of regular socks and then inside a pair of boots, keeps your feet and toes so so warm! When your toes are warm, your whole body is warm!

Good luck facing the cold! It will be warm soon enough!!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. 11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
