Anyone who is close to me knows that I love to meditate and I especially love to get others to meditate as well. This might just be one of the healthiest obsessions I could have ever picked up. There has been plenty of research that proves this practice of calming and strengthening your brain can improve things like depression and addiction and even reduce blood pressure and stress levels.
I have only been regularly practicing meditation for a little less than a year, but I have seen a huge improvement in myself. It took me a little bit of trial and error to find the right meditations for myself, so I have compiled a list of six meditations for the stressed out person who needs a mental and physical pick-me-up.
1. "Meet Your Animal Spirit Guide: Guided Meditation Visualization, Spoken Word, The Magic Book"
I can honestly say this is one of the best guided meditations I've ever done. While the goal of the meditation is to meet your spirit animal guide (don't worry if you don't see anything the first time, it takes some people months!), there is also a heavy emphasis on letting go of stress and tension. My body and mind were so light and unstressed after this meditation; it is perfect for anyone trying relax after a long day.
2. "Guided Meditation for Sleep...Floating Amongst the Stars"
This meditation is great for people like myself who struggle with falling and/or staying asleep. It is a little on the longer side, but I usually only get 20 minutes in before falling asleep for the night. I will say though, that this meditation usually gives me very weird dreams.
3. "Guided Meditation for an Overactive Mind: Concentration Aid"
This short meditation is great to re-focus your mind before starting homework. While it usually seems like you have no time for anything, let alone yourself, it is important to give yourself a break. Just taking these ten minutes to help regain some concentration and focus and it will make it so much easier to get through any work you have to do.
4. "Unlock Your Full Potential—A 10 Minute Guided Visualization For Success & Confidence"
For those days when you're just not feeling well, this meditation is a great boost to help you feel better. It is a nice, gentle reminder that while things may not be so perfect at the moment, they will always improve.
5. "The Great Pyramid Guided Meditation for Deep Relaxation 20 Minute Guided Visualization"
I'm going to be honest, I tried this one for this article and wound up passing out within the first ten minutes; I was so relaxed. I can't tell you how the visualization went past that point, but I can say I have never been so relaxed so quickly!
