Unfortunately, sometimes life causes friends to close vicinity we are used to. Whether it be moving far away, or leaving for college, it can hurt to leave people who are such a big part of your life. But distance doesn’t mean a disintegration of friendships, just a whole new sort of relationship. As an expert in dealing with friends living far away, here are some things that I know to be true.
1. Sometimes you can go days without talking
It can be difficult to constantly keep up with someone when you do not see them every day, especially when you’re busy living your lives.
2. FaceTime becomes your favorite thing.
A text just doesn’t suffice when it comes to catching people up on all the crazy things that have happened when you don’t speak every day.
3. Lots of conversations consist of planning for when you eventually see each other again.
“So it’s only 149 days, 13 hours, 28 minutes and 12 seconds until you come visit….”
4. There’s no one better to gossip with.
You never have to worry about them spreading secrets since they don’t even know the people you’re talking about.
5. They’re always available to give you advice.
They’re usually a partisan person to vent your issues too and are able to help guide you to the best possible solution.
6. You never doubt the strength of your friendship.
If you can keep up a friendship miles upon miles away, you can basically survive anything.
