"The Wizard of Oz" is quite possibly one of the most iconic films to be made. After being around for roughly 80 years, it's still considered a classic, people love it. But, most importantly, people are still watching it and learning the lessons shown throughout.

Never give up.

Through all the obstacles that came her way trying to get to Oz, Dorothy and her trusty friends persevered in order to get there.

You can do anything you set your mind to.

During the movie, we learned what Tin Man, Scarecrow, the Lion and Dorothy all wanted to get from the great Wizard. The best part? They all got each thing they wanted because they kept going in the face of obstacles and being pushed back.

Friends are family, too.

Dorothy makes the best friends she’s ever had on her trip through Oz and do not try to tell me you didn’t cry when she had to say “goodbye” to her second family.

Don’t let fear rule you.

Despite all the Wicked Witch put Dorothy through when she was held captive, Dorothy kept going to get the broom so she could go home. She had no idea what the witch was capable of, but that didn’t matter because she knew what needed to be done.

You already have everything you need to reach your wildest dreams.

Dorothy and all of her pals already had the power to go home, have some courage, have a heart and have a brain. They just needed to find within themselves what they never knew they had. Remember, all Dorothy needed to do was click the heels of those ruby red slippers a few times.

There’s no place like home.

The most iconic line of the whole film teaches viewers that everything you need is right where you belong. Right at home.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
