Whether you're a fan of the show or not, I firmly believe you could learn a hell of a lot from watching South Park. It may sound ridiculous, but the show has both entertained with hilarious yet highly offensive obscenity, as well as made me take a deeper look at myself and the world around me. Over the past 19 years, the shows' dark and twisted humor has poked fun at just about every topic while maintaining controversy. The fact is, the purpose of satire has always been to make a statement about real issues using comedy as a way to emphasize human stupidity-- but more importantly it's just to make people laugh about the awful things going on every day. With the end of 2016 finally approaching, I'd like to point out some of the lessons we've learned the hard way this year that we can all laugh at now thanks to South Park and all of its awesomeness.

1. Shit Happens.

I think it's a pretty clear consensus that 2016 pretty much sucked for all of us-- whether it was bad relationships, broken friendships, or just downright shitty people that came into our lives, it all served a purpose. People come and go to teach us what not to do sometimes, and in the end they help us appreciate the good people when they do come around.

2. Anything and everything can and will get made into a meme.

If there was ONE good thing that came from 2016, it was all the dank memes. Thank you, internet- you are a strange and wonderful place.

3. Anything and everything will offend everyone.

2016 was the year everything stopped being funny and started being politically correct. *Cue the mob of angry feminists*

4. Social media is taken way too seriously.

Let's all agree to leave long, dramatic, angry, unnecessary Facebook statuses in 2016, mmkay?

5. Anything is possible.

Donald Trump is our next president, 'nuff said. Dream big everyone.

6. 2017 will be better, because it just has to be.

If I can leave you with one last pearl of wisdom, it's to keep your head up and hope for a brighter future. 2016 was a shit storm but sometimes things have to get bad before they can get much, much worse, until they eventually get better. 2017 we are ready for you, and we're not f*ckin' around.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
