If you know anything about Sex and the City, you know the four main characters who make up one of the most iconic girl gangs to ever exist. Whether you relate most to Carrie, Sam, Charlotte or Miranda (or a mix of a couple of them, like I do), they all go through certain experiences in the show that can actually teach you some valuable life lessons. Here are a few I've picked up on so far.

1. You don't have to have your life figured out right now—or in 10 years

The main premise of the show is four grown women navigating life in New York City, and (no offense, ladies) they're constantly making mistakes and growing. And they're all 30-somethings.Seeing this has actually helped me come to terms with the fact that I don't know what my plans for the summer are or that I sometimes forget about an assignment until a couple hours before it's due.

If these smart, successful women still mess up and don't always know what they're doing, it's okay that I'm still figuring things out, too.

2. Be bold

Just by watching one episode of SATC, you know that Samantha is the perfect person to channel when you need to say it as it is. She truly doesn't hold back in any situation—her work life, her sex life (which is very lively) and within her friendships. It's empowering to watch her share her thoughts straight-up. Even if they're a little inappropriate sometimes.

3. If you know what you're doing is wrong, stop doing it

No words can explain how frustrated I was with Carrie when (SPOILER ALERT) she went back to Big when she was with Aiden. I love her to death, but the fact that she knew everything would end up crashing in on her and still didn't change made me literally scream. I'll forgive her for it someday.

4. You have to make those hard decisions that have to be made

(SPOILER ALERT) Miranda ended things with Steve even though she loved him because they were at different maturity levels at that time in life. Even though it was hard for her, she ended up being okay. To me, that shows that letting go of things that you don't necessarily want to but you know it's what's best makes you a stronger person and your life better overall.

5. Always look at things from a not-so-serious perspective, no matter the situation

I've laughed out loud at every episode of SATC I've watched so far. That's not to say that nothing bad in the show ever happens—the opposite, truthfully. But none of the women take themselves or life too seriously, and they always take a moment to step back and laugh at themselves.

I believe that having this mentality reminds you what's important in this life, and that is that nothing is ever the end-all-be-all. It's a process, and it's meant to be fun.

6. No one will ever get you like your girlfriends do

They're everything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
