6 Things You Learn From Being 'The Girl On the Football Team'

1. People will disagree with you a lot.

If you believe in yourself, no one else matters.

2. ... you also gain a lot of support.

While a lot of people disagreed with me, I have plenty of support from my friends, teachers, my guidance counselor and especially my parents.

3. You make a lot of great friendships.

Though the boys had lots of mixed emotions about playing football with me, I made friends with lots of them.


4. You basically get a whole entire locker room to yourself.

BOYS ARE SMELLY. Having a whole locker room to yourself is probably the best thing about being a girl on an all boys team.

5. Boys are tough.

You end up injured a lot. No matter how much you don't want to admit it, it is literally science that boys are tougher than girls so you will definitely end up injured at some point.

6. You have more strength than you think.

At the end of it all, you find a lot of strength that you probably didn't know you had.

As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep.
