Summer break is about relaxing from school and enjoying the (hopefully) nice weather. Many college students find that they feel bored because they "have nothing to do" during the summer because they can't afford to go on big trips around the country or world. There are many affordable things that can be done during the summer months that don't require lots of travel or commitment.

1. Go see a movie

There are tons of movies that are released during the summer months and it is a great opportunity to take a break from being in the sun and heat and enjoy a new movie. A movie ticket itself doesn't cost that much money usually and instead of getting a soda and candy, just ask for an ice water which should be free.

2. Go to a park

Parks are a great place to go and bring a blanket and just hang out or read. If you have a hammock, it is also a great public place to hang your hammock.

3. Visit your local library

Libraries offer a large selection of books you can read in the comfort of air conditioning.

4. Go on a walk around your community

Walking is a great way to get exercise, and going around your community can help you notice things you may not see when you are driving around.

5. Go on a bike ride

If you own a bike, it is a great way to get around and explore places you can't get to in a car. It also doesn't need gas so you save money by not using your car.

6. Take pictures with your phone

No need for a fancy camera, you can take pictures on your phone of local buildings or of nature. It is a great way to see the world around you and if you have an Instagram account, you can post the pictures you take there.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
