For many of us who seek to learn more about other cultures by watching foreign TV shows, it can be a real struggle, especially when it comes to Korean television. As many of the shows are not well known in America, it can be difficult to find them online or with English subtitles. As someone who understands the brilliance of Korean variety shows and K-dramas, I compiled a list of the six greatest Korean shows that you can watch fully subbed and in good quality via Netflix. These shows are definitely worth giving a try.

1. "Abnormal Summit"

Ever wished for a show like "Hetalia" but with real people? "Abnormal Summit" is your answer. Twelve men from around the globe are invited to debate over various topics. The purpose is to strengthen the bond between countries and allow each representative to clear up any stereotypes or misconceptions about their culture. There are representatives from Japan, England, America, Ghana and many other interesting places. It is definitely one of the most diverse Korean variety shows out there. The debates stay lighthearted and are filled with laughter thanks to the three Korean MCs: Sung Si-kyung, Jun Hyun-moo and comedian Yoo Se-yoon.

2. "The Homecoming"

This Korean TV show allows viewers to experience various cultures, taking them on a journey all over the world. The men from "Abnormal Summit" appear once again in order to show off the cultures of their home towns. It is both educational and entertaining to watch the guys go on an adventure to new countries.

3. "Oh My Ghost"

"Oh My Ghost" is a K-drama featuring romance, action, comedy and ghosts. What more could you ask for? A woman named Na Bong Sun has been dealing with pesky ghosts who refuse to leave her alone. She is one of the few people who can see dead people so she must hide this ability from her coworkers so that they don’t deem her as crazy. One day she gets possessed by a bold and bashful ghost who turns life upside down.

4. "My Runway"

"My Runway" is a Korean mini-series that may just have you binge watching the entire thing before you know it. The drama is about a young woman with high hopes of becoming a famous model in Korea. Despite multiple auditions, she just can’t manage to nag a job. To her surprise one night at karaoke a strange incident occurs, causing her to switch bodies with an experienced male model. They are each thrown into new world as they have to learn how to be the other person as they frantically search for a way to switch their bodies back. The plot includes humor and a love story which completes all of the best K-dramas.

5. "Real GOT7" (for the K-pop fans)

This Korean show is for all of the K-Pop fans who are looking for more. "Real GOT7" showcases the members of Korean boy group, GOT7, as they go through various activities. This show provides fans a window into their lives and allows them to get to know the members more. Who knew Netflix had an entire season filled with the energetic boys of GOT7?

6. "Okja"

"Okja" is a new movie that combines the best of both worlds bringing a piece of Korea and America to the viewers. South Korean director Bong Joon-ho brings us a story about a young girl who has been raising a pet pig since childhood, except it isn’t an ordinary creature. Her beloved pet has grown to an enormous size that has never been seen before. The only problem is there are other who think her pet would do better in the food industry. "Okja" is exciting, heartwarming and saddening.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
