Get outside during these summer months and enjoy the beautiful nature Tennessee has to provide!
1. Fall Creek Falls
Located in Spencer, Tenn. this state park is about two hours from Nashville. It has several different places to see the falls and various trails to hike and also has a rope swing bridge to cross. There is also one fantastic overlook that is worth finding. This place is definitely one you could spend the whole day at exploring.
2. Burgess Falls
Located about an hour from Nashville and only 30 minutes away from Fall Creek Falls this one does not disappoint. The falls here are absolutely breath taking but a fair warning, the hike down to the base of the falls can be rather steep. There is also a swimming hole at the base of the falls.
3. Cummins Falls
Located only 30 minutes away from Burgess Falls, the falls here are beautiful and provide for a relaxing atmosphere. When going in the summer though beware: it is bound to be crowded with families. I suggest going earlier in the morning to get a head start to beat the crowds.
4. Narrows of the Harpeth
If you’re looking for a place very close to Nashville, this would be your best bet. This place is located about half an hour from downtown Nashville in Kingston Springs, Tenn. There are a few different hiking trails and one awesome overlook above the Harpeth River. I suggest making a day out of it and renting some kayaks from down the road and kayaking down the river - absolutely beautiful.
5. Foster Falls
Located about two hours outside of Nashville and very close to Chattanooga, this place offers several different trails, one of which walks right alongside the river. It's a good place for a day trip and Greeter Falls is very close by to also visit in the same day.
6. Rock Island State Park
This place is about an hour and a half from Nashville and has many small little falls accompanied by one large swimming hole. The one large fall is in the shape of a horseshoe and stretches about 30-feet wide.
