As college students, going home for summer vacation can be a little upsetting. Leaving your friends and the fun that you always have at college to go back to the hometown that you have grown so far away from does not seem like fun. But staying at home for the summer can have some benefits, such as the following:

1. Spending time with your family

It may seem dull compared to the parties and atmosphere that you were surrounded by at school, but in the long run your family will always be behind you no matter what. So spend some quality time at dinner or at a game night with them. You love them a lot and you never know how much time you are going to get to spend with them during the semester.

2. Saving money

Living at home and working all summer can really pay off, literally. Not having to pay rent and getting all day, everyday to keep open just for working is great. Earning this money can really help with rent or other expenses when the next school year begins.

3. Reconnecting with some old friends

Notice the some in that. You know that some people are meant to stay in your past. You definitely do not want to still be besties with all the people that you were besties with in high school. I mean reconnecting with that group of real, close friends that you miss because you went to separate schools. They are the friends you want to keep for life, the ones you have known your whole life. They know you the best and spending time with them can be so comforting.

4. Being able to have free time to spend with yourself

Even if this just means binge watching any and every Netflix series you want to, this is important. It is important to relax and if you were with your friends at school you know they would peer pressure you into going out. Spending time alone is relaxing and key to having a good summer break.

5. Eating good food

Going from eating cafeteria food or having to cook for yourself all the time (aka eating mac and cheese) to having familiar home cooked meals made by your mom is a big deal. Enjoying your meals and not having to drive to Taco Bell at 2 am because you didn't eat dinner that night is so convenient.

6. Taking a break from college

This doesn't just mean taking a break from classes, professors and papers. Taking a break from them is great but taking a break from the college life is better. Taking some time apart from your friends is healthy since you spend so much time with them during the semester. And taking a break from the stay up all night party life is important to your health. It's good to feel like a regular person again.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
