In a previous article, I declared this summer as my summer.

One of the ways I am making the most of the summer of 2021 is by setting and accomplishing goals that I created at the beginning of the summer. While I've had New Year resolutions this whole year, I have a shorter time to accomplish my summer goals. Summer goals encourage me to have more drive than New Year's goals. It also makes accomplishing New Years' Eve resolutions easier to accomplish because I get used to following through with accomplishing goals.

Whenever you set goals, it's important that you actually try to accomplish the goal instead of just wishing that it will happen.

The best things in life don't just happen without effort and time. That's the thing about self-care and wanting to do things in life. Life isn't a movie. You don't randomly get a promotion or overcome your depression. Those things take work, and even then, you might not get what you want. It is important to remember that it's okay to set a goal or expectation of yourself and fall short. At least you tried your best to make it happen.

As Brian Tracy once said, "A goal without a plan is only a dream."

In order to hold myself accountable and to help others accomplish their goals, I'm sharing mine. Here are my six summer goals for 2021.

1. Learn time management.

One of the things that I struggle with during the school year is time management. Lack of time management only leads me to get stressed out and feel overwhelmed with everything. This is why I feel like summer is the best way to get used to balancing things on a smaller scale with the summer classes I'm taking. This goal will help me to adjust and get used to the process.

2.  Wake up before 9 AM.

I'm the type of person that doesn't believe in waking up early, but I have discovered that the more adult things you're involved in, the more you'll have to wake up early. Waking up early also connects with time management because waking up earlier gives me more time.

3. Finish tasks on my to-do list.

I have all my tasks on the reminder list on my iPhone, but I struggle with checking things off and actually accomplishing them. This is why I want to work on at least completing a task or two a day.

4. Organize my room and car.

Another thing that is stressful in my life is that my room and car are not organized in the most efficient way they can be. I feel that organizing them might help me feel less stressed out because I will have a more peaceful environment.

5. Go outdoors more.

I'm lucky to live in Florida, but I don't ever utilize what makes it so amazing - the beautiful beaches, nature trails, and unique outdoor restaurants. I also feel that with COVID, I became more of a hermit which is why I want to explore the great outdoors and see what it has to offer.

6. Find a workout that works for me.

I love working out, but one thing that I struggle with is actually starting the process of actually working out. I feel that one of the roadblocks has been not finding a workout that is best suited for me. This is why I want this summer to try all the different workouts that I can, from yoga to Crossfit.

I hope to accomplish my summer goals, but writing them down is the first step!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
