Alabama is headed back to the National Championship once again. On the back of a smothering defense and efficient offense, the Alabama Crimson Tide pounded Michigan State in the national semifinal 38-0.
The Alabama faithful certainly had fun ringing in the new year after watching their team hold Sparty to a point total the local high school football team could have scored: zero. For Bama fans, nothing is sweeter than crushing an opponent that at first glance seems to provide decent competition. Here is a recap of how New Year's Eve went for Alabama fans.
Waking Up:
Waking up is a little easier on game day for Alabama fans. It is all smiles for the team until the trash talk transfers from the media to the field.
Pregame:
The bloods gets pumping and confidence grows every time Sweet Home Alabama or Dixieland Delight plays on game day. Alabama fans expect to win every game. The College Football Playoff was not any different.
Kickoff:
Once the ball was kicked, the nervous feeling finally set in and the flashback to the painful loss to Ohio State was fresh in the mind.
First Quarter, 0-0:
After one quarter, it looked as if this game might be a struggle. The offense couldn't move the ball, and as a result, Saban was looking at Lane Kiffin like he just ran over his dog.
Halftime, 10-0:
Taking a lead into halftime was a huge stress reliever for fans. Any sort of lead was a reason to feel better, especially with a Nick Saban defense on the field.
3rd Quarter, 31-0:
Elation is the only way to describe Alabama's third quarter onslaught of the Spartans. With a five-score lead and 15 minutes remaining, nothing short of a miracle could save State.
Final, 38-0:
Number 16 is only one game away. Derrick Henry and the boys didn't just win; they made a statement to the rest of the country: The dynasty is never over.
