6 Foods That Scream Summer!
Get Food Genius

Everyone has a list of foods that they associate with summer. Depending on a person's background, their list can be different from another person's; it also depends on personal preference. For some people, it isn't summer until they get that one taste of a certain food, and after that, it's a smile and the word "summer" is whispered from their lips. Everyone has a special place within themselves for summer. It is a time when the food gets better and the nights get warmer. Summer is one of those times when everyone expects the fun and food to get better than it is any other time of the year. Here is a list of 7 foods that scream summer:

1. Corn on the cob

Corn on the cob can really only be enjoyed during the summer months, especially because it's only available during the summer. Jersey corn is the best corn!

2. Watermelon

SUMMER’S BEST FRUIT!!! I love it so much, but sadly I’m allergic to it, but once in awhile I’ll have a tiny piece. If that doesn’t show that it’s the best fruit, I am not sure what does.

3. Freshly Squeezed Lemonade

Freshly squeezed lemonade will always taste better than powder mixes; there's no chemically artificial taste, and the lemon juice will provide just enough tartness. The best lemonade is from the Jersey Shore boardwalks, preferably Point Pleasant!

4. S’mores

S'mores are perfect for a beautiful summer night! Have a pool party and a bonfire and roast marshmallows after! Stores sell huge marshmallows, I recommend buying those because they are so fluffy and yummy.

5. Ice Cream

Ice cream is great during the fall or spring, but it is even better on a hot summer day. Even though I am lactose intolerant, my favorite is the orange and vanilla swirl in a wafer cone from Kohrs!

6. Funnel Cake

Who doesn’t love funnel cake? You can never go wrong with fried dough and powdered sugar. Whether you're walking on the boardwalk or at a carnival, funnel cake is the way to go!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
