1. Snorkel or dive a reef
The Florida Keys host numerous beautiful reefs that provide the perfect opportunity to see numerous species of fish and sea life. Looe Key Reef and Sombrero Reef are two of many reefs you do not want to miss out on during your vacation.
2. Go lobstering
During season, catching lobster makes for an eventful day. Don’t be fooled though... catching a lobster can be quite the challenge, but well worth the effort! Don’t forget your nets and tickle sticks!
3. Catch a fish
Fishing both offshore and inshore in the Keys is bound to be a great time! Tarpon, mangrove snapper and snook are few of many species of fish you can catch! If you are an experienced diver or snorkeler, then spearfishing would be a great option for you! It is even encouraged to spear lionfish as they are a very invasive (and very tasty) fish! Hogfish also make a delicious meal.
4. Kayak or paddleboard
The gorgeous waters of the Keys are a kayaker’s or paddleboarder's dream. Keep your eye out for all kinds of wildlife and also get in a great, fun workout. When in doubt, paddle out, they say!
5. Wakeboard, kneeboard, water ski or tube
Any of these options makes more a fun time! Get a group together and hit the water! Make competitions out of it to make things a little more interesting!
6. Watch a sunset
When you are in the Keys, watching a sunset should definitely be a priority! Pictures just don’t do justice!
