Facts You May Not Know About Love

Love, it's everywhere. It can make one person the strongest being in the world just as it makes another the most vulnerable. If you fall in love with another person, you are trusting them with your heart -- they could break it with just a couple words or you could keep falling in love with them more and more each day. There are so many things about love that the average person doesn't know here are 6 facts that you may not know about love:

1. Some animals fall in love only once.

Most people are aware that when swans mate, they mate for life. However, they are not the only animal that participates in monogamous relationships -- wolves, beavers, barn owls, bald eagles, and octopod also mate for life. It is not impossible to have a monogamous relationships.

2. When two lovers stare into each other's eyes, their heart rate synchronizes.

It was found in a study that when you are romantically involved with another person, your heartbeats will beat together. It is amazing that a connection between two people can be so strong that one of the things keeping you both alive can sync and become one. This brings a new meaning to "we're so insync!"

3. Falling in love has similar neurological effects to that of cocaine.

Research shows that falling in love produces a similar euphoria to using cocaine. It simulates 12 parts of your brain and when you fall out of love or have your heart broken you can go into a sort of "withdrawal" that anybody stopping cocaine would go into. It causes depression among other symptoms. Don't take drugs, fall in love.

4. Natural pain killers are released when cuddling.

Cuddling releases a hormone called oxytocin – this hormone helps to create a sort of bond between the couple cuddling. A study shows that when cuddling it can relieve pain such as headaches and they can completely go away after four hours. Who needs Advil when you can cuddle with your partner?

5. Heartbreak is real.

If you've had a break-up that you weren't prepared for, you know that feeling of heartbreak. It causes a emotional and physical pain. Broken heart syndrome is the name of this condition known as a broken heart and symptoms include chest pains and shortness of breath. Be careful who you trust with your heart.

6. Butterflies in your stomach are also real.

The feeling is caused by adrenaline. The butterflies are apart of your fight-or-flight response. You can get butterflies for nearly everything, but if you have fallen in love, you know that those butterflies dancing around in your stomach is nothing you can control.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
