I had the privilege of touring Europe for nearly two weeks this summer and even though I have only been home for two days, I am already planning my next trip back. Europe is magical, historic, and down-right beautiful. Here are 6 of my favorite European attractions that you have to visit!
1. The Louvre - Paris, France
This beautiful museum is the largest on earth and the former home of Napoleon. You can actually walk through Napoleon's apartments, which are more impressive than a royal palace. It would take you 75 days to see everything in the museum. The Louvre is also the home to the famous Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo.
2. Hampton Court - London, England
Hampton Court is also known as the Tudor castle and the former palace of King William and Queen Mary. The infamous Henry VIII lived at Hampton Court during his reign, along with his six wives. The gardens of Hampton Court are incredible. They were created to rival Versailles, which is famous for it's gardens. Can you imagine the history that took place in this castle?
3. Mount Pilatus - Lucerne, Switzerland
7,000 ft above the ground is Mount Pilatus. Mount Pilatus is one of the most famous mountains in the Swiss Alps. At the top of Mount Pilatus you can oversee the magnificent city of Lucerne. This is a breath taking sight you have to see. Of course, I had to rep my school too. Tigers still on top! (Literally)
4. Notre Dame Cathedral - Paris, France
Regardless of your religious stance, you can appreciate the beauty of Notre Dame. This historic cathedral will knock you off your feet with it's pure grandeur. Notre Dame is everything you expect it to be and more.
5. Einsiedeln Abbey - Einsiedeln, Switzerland.
There are no words for this incredibly gorgeous place of worship. The Pope has visited The Abbey Church and named it as one of his favorites. The Abbey Church is a representation of the baroque period in every way. I promise, you have never seen so much gold in your life. Sunglasses aren't necessary, but you will need tissues.
6. Nueschwanstein Castle - Schwangua, Germany
The Nueschwanstein Castle is famous for many reasons. One of which is being the Disney Castle. Yes, you read that correctly. Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty's castle was based off of Nueschwanstein Castle. King Ludwig II of Bavaria had Nueschwanstein built to honor God and the people of Bavaria. Nueschwanstein Castle was actually never finished due to the King's untimely death. I'll bet you couldn't tell, huh?
I am forever in awe of Europe's beauty and the amount of history represented in their architecture. I encourage everyone to travel abroad and see every single one of these attractions. Make your bucket list and get out there to explore!
