As fall break has come to a close and school is starting back up, every student is dreading a handful of things this Monday morning.
1. Waking up at six o'clock.
Personally, hearing my alarm clock go off on Monday morning, and having to roll out from under the warm sheets when it's still dark outside is going to be the worst part about fall break ending. It is definitely something everyone is going to dread, no doubt about it.
The thought of making myself look cute went out the window, along with the 20 alarms that will be cutting my sleep very, very short.
2. The homework no one did over break.
Not only did we moan and groan when our teachers handed us a few homework assignments last week, we also managed to avoid thinking about or looking at them for the entire week. Though that kind of procrastination deserves an A in itself, you now have wide variety of homework, essays and test preparation you need to do by the end of the week. Ouch.
Oh, how nice it was when we were in elementary school and only had to color a picture for homework.
3. Fitting into your favorite pair of jeans that are now too tight.
You know you ate too much over Thanksgiving when the jeans you were wearing comfortably a few days ago, are now too tight to get past your thighs. I guess that top button on my jeans won't be getting buttoned any time soon.
On the bright side, the leftover turkey, stuffing and pie you've been eating over the last few days tasted amazing--even turkeys would be hungry for it.
4. Learning a new unit in class.
Coming back from fall break and immediately beginning a new unit in math and science is a disaster in itself. Between sitting in a cold classroom at 8 a.m. and trying to understand what your teacher means by the "fundamental theorem of calculus," you deserve a long nap this afternoon.
The real question is, do you even remember the unit you learned before this one?
5. The amount of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The distance between fall break and winter break is a month, yet somehow, it feels like three. Not to mention, that month span is filled with enough information to take three months to process into your brain.
Needless to say, it is next to the impossible for any student to have any sort of motivation over these several weeks. Rest in peace to my grades.
6. Missing your loved ones.
One of the worst parts about Thanksgiving and fall break ending, is saying goodbye to your loved ones you had been spending so much time with. Nothing is more sad and heart-wrenching than watching your friends and family drive away in a car, knowing you won't be able to see them until the next holiday.
Now that fall break is over, and we are all sitting back at our desks, the countdown to winter break is the most prominent thing on our mind.
