The 6 Different Types of 'Extra' Girls

We all know at least one.

I am often referred to as "the Queen of Extra" by my friends, and I don't really argue with that title. It's a gift, really. However, there are many different ways in which a girl can express her "extra," so I decided to compile a guide to best understand my breed of person. Most of us "extra" ladies are really a mix of multiple points on this list, so don't be surprised if you (or your friends) relate to more than one.

1. The "put together" girl.

Because I am a major fan of leggings, t-shirts, and no makeup, this type of girl is one of the most annoying to see on a daily basis. Nobody knows what her true face looks like — she always is perfectly done up in her designer outfits and a full face of makeup. She probably picks out her trendy outfit the night before and wouldn't be caught dead rolling up to class wearing sweatpants.

2. The needy girl.

This girl slides into your DMs more than a cringy Tinder boy — she's constantly blowing up your phone tagging you in random Facebook posts, texting you for advice, asking you for favors, and generally assuming you have nothing to do all day but text her. And, while you love her very dearly, she quite often strikes a nerve when you're trying to be productive and all she wants to do is discuss her favorite yoga poses and the benefits of each. She definitely needs to be handled in doses.

3. The "obsessed" girl.

This girl has one thing that completely takes over her life — maybe it's her boyfriend that she can't stop talking about or the fact that she's a vegan. Whatever it is, it's always on her mind and she's probably disinterested in almost everything else.

4. The organized girl.

Never, EVER, give this girl a label maker, because she'll probably stick one on your forehead with your name on it. This girl has her schedule planned out down to the minute. On a coffee date, she may even stop you mid-story to leave for the library. It's not your fault, really, but you went over your time limit of 25 minutes and 15 seconds. You can bet she has color-coded highlighters and notes for every class and honestly could do a better job than the textbook writers at explaining the subject by the time she's done.

5. The boy-crazy girl.

Similar to the "obsessed" girl, this girl can't get enough male attention. She makes a beeline for the dance floor at every party to try and catch every man's eye, and never bats an eyelash about leaving her friends at the end of the night. Most girls will only experience this as a phase, but there are a select few who can turn this into a lifestyle.

6. The "perfect image" girl.

This one's a tough one to describe, because it's heavily reliant on social media. She knows the perfect time to post each day, can edit nearly anything into perfection, and would never let it slip that she's anything less than perfect. Perfect family, perfect boyfriend, perfect dog, perfect wardrobe… She wants you to want to be her, and it probably works.

All of this being said, each of these girls bring something awesome to a friendship, like opportunities to find new hobbies, someone always there when you need her, or someone to keep you on your toes with assignments and appointments. These girls are hard to come by, so when you find one, keep her close. We all need them in our lives, whether we want to admit it or not, and really do love them for who they are.

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
