Yes, we are home for the summer. No, we do not have our lives figured out yet. As we adjust to the move from independent living to hanging out back around the nest, here are eleven things that all college students are tired of hearing.

1. "How were your classes this semester?"

We don't feel like reciting numerous class descriptions over and over.

2. "How have you been?"

Well, we have been in a whirlwind of emotions for the past three months, mostly stress. But you don't want to hear that.

3. "What are your plans for the summer?"

If we are home right now, we probably don't have any solidified plans. Please let us wallow in silence.

4. "Are you ready for (insert class year here) year?"

No, we are not excited that we are one year closer to graduating.

5. "What's your major again?"

You really don't know by now?

6. "Any romantic prospects?"

Nope, college relationships suck.

7. "What are your post-graduation plans?"

We are still trying to figure that out too.

8. "What do you want to do with your life?"

See also number 6.

9. "How are your grades?"

College is hard. Leave us alone.

10. "Have you been behaving yourself?"

Do you really want to know the answer to that question?

11. "Are you happy to be home for the summer?"

We don't quite know how to answer that. We'd be happier if you stopped asking us questions.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
