Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree! How lovely are your squirrel filled branches. Christmas is a time where families follow their annual traditions to make it is the most fun holiday ever. From eating breakfast casserole to watching Hallmark 24/7 and tracking down every funny Christmas movie ever, these family traditions take over the lives of holidays in the best way ever. Here are six traditions that my family has that I feel everyone should participate in:

1. Breakfast Casserole

Every year I wake up to unwrap gifts and have the chance to delve into this amazing food. It makes all the difference and I can't imagine anyone celebrating Christmas without it.

2. A Christmas Story

Every Christmas Eve we watch this movie as a family with sub sandwiches and plenty of laughs. It is one of my most beloved memories and I can pretty much quote this classic, so why not?

3. Christmas Comedies in general

Everyone should join in when it comes to comedies; Christmas movies are no exception. From "Christmas with the Kranks" to "National Lampoons" I never miss a single comedy movie this time of year.

4. Hot Chocolate + The Night Before Christmas

Every year we read "The Night Before Christmas" and most years the reading comes with hot chocolate, too. The warmth, family, and the taking of turns reading (if you are under 18) is fun to me and something that every family should join in on.

5. Homemade holiday drinks

From hot chocolate with peppermint and whipped cream to homemade peppermint mocha's -- making homemade holiday drinks at Christmas is something every family should add to their tradition list.

6. Baking Day

Leading up to all the festivities we have something that I like to call baking day. We bake cookies and brownies and laugh and drink hot chocolate.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
