Summer is the season of binge-watching. It's the perfect time to kick back, relax, and hide from your friends and family for days on end while attempting to finish a 5 season TV show in 4 days. If you're looking for something to watch, look no further! Here are 6 TV shows to watch this summer.

1. grown-ish

What: A cute and relatable sitcom about college, friendship, and social issues in the world today. They tackle anything from politics to fashion to social media.

Where: Hulu

Why: Yara Shahidi is AMAZING, the outfits never disappoint, and the cast makes me love them and hate them at the same time. Plus, all of the cute guys Zoey has to decide between? Sign me up.

Perfect for: When you want to watch something like a coming of age movie, but longer.

Seasons: 1

Return Status: Renewed for a second season

2. The Bold Type

What: A drama-dy about 3 friends living in New York City, all working at a feminist magazine that encourages female empowerment. It's based on the life of Joanna Coles, the former EIC at Cosmo. Jane, Sutton, and Kat try to figure out life, love, and work in the big city.

Where: Hulu

Why: This show makes me feel like I can take on the world. It's full of amazing female friendships and badass women that support and love each other almost unconditionally. It's all kinds of cliche but in the best possible ways.

Perfect for: When you and your best friends have 12 hours to do nothing but watch tv and eat pizza.

Seasons: 1

Return Status: Season 2 comes out June 12 on Freeform

3. Jane the Virgin

What: An American Telenovela in which 23-year-old virgin Jane Villanueva is accidentally artificially inseminated by her gynocologist, who happens to be her baby daddy, Rafael's, sister. And Rafael is also her boss and not her fiance, Detective Michael Cordero, who's assigned to investigate the family after a sudden and mysterious series of murders at the family's hotel. So there's a lot going on.

Where: Netflix

Why: This show is loaded with drama, romance, and mystery. The cast is incredible (Gina Rodriguez, I love you), and it's full of twists and turns to keep you on your toes the entire time.

Perfect for: when you need some drama in your life.

Seasons: 4

Return Status: Renewed! Most likely will air in January 2019.

4. The Good Place

What: A sitcom that explores the afterlife. Four people from different walks of life have died and are brought into the "Good Place," a place where the best people are taken after they die. But, there's been a mistake, and Elinor isn't supposed to be there! Chaos ensues.

Where: Hulu and Netflix

Why: If you loved Parks and Rec, you'll love The Good Place. Kristen Bell is hilarious, the entire cast is amazing, the jokes are so funny. It's wholesome, light-hearted humor, combined with episodes that really make you think.

Perfect for: when you're having an existential crisis and need to laugh about it.

Seasons: 2

Return Date: Season 3 is filming now!

5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

What: A sitcom that follows the detectives of the 99th Precinct of New York City. This show is like a buddy cop comedy but longer and with more diversity and less sexism.

Where: Hulu

Why: Unless you've been living without internet connection for the past month, you've probably heard that Brooklyn Nine-Nine is amazing and worth watching. It's one of the least problematic shows on television, and its laugh out loud funny every week. The representation in this show is insane. All of the female characters have actual personalities. The characters develop and grow and don't just stay the same throughout the 5 seasons. I could write a novel about how much I love this show. Just do yourself a favor and watch it.

Perfect for: When you want something funny and light-hearted that might also consume your life.

Seasons: 5

Return Date: Not yet announced, but it was recently picked up by NBC for a sixth season after being canceled by Fox.

6. Superstore

What: A comedy that takes place in a superstore called Cloud 9, which is basically a Walmart. The story starts when Jonah and Mateo get jobs at Cloud 9 and meets his quirky coworkers

Where: Hulu

Why: If you liked shows liked The Office or Scrubs, you'll like this show. The show is laugh out loud funny, and each of the characters is unique and funny.

Perfect for: when you have a few days with not a lot going on (because I couldn't stop watching it).

Seasons: 3

Return Date: TBA, but renewed for a season 4

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
