There have been some great Hollywood movies over the years, directed by amazing directors such as Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan and many others. Here is a list of some movies you should definitely watch if you are a movie buff.

1. "Pulp Fiction"

This was Quentin Tarantino's second film as a director and boy, did he do good. "Pulp Fiction" revolves around the lives of two mobsters, a boxer, a gangster's wife and two people who rob diners and how the four stories intertwine together toward the end. Boasting an incredible cast of Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman and others, this should not be missed.

2. "The Dark Knight"

The second movie in the Batman franchise, directed by Christopher Nolan, "The Dark Knight" is a masterpiece and also the only superhero movie to be mentioned in BBC's "100 Greatest American Films" list. The plot involves Batman taking on the maniac Joker in a sort of a psychological battle between what is right and wrong and also showcases the sheer brilliance of Heath Ledger as the Joker, for which he was awarded the award for best actor.

3. "The Godfather"

This movie is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, and it certainly deserves it. It is the best mob-drama that you will ever watch because of the excellent acting and realistic portrayal of mob violence. The film explores the life of Michael (Al Pacino), who is the son of the American-Italian crime family head Don Vito Carleone, and explores his relationship with his wife and how he handles the family business.

4. "Titanic"

"My heart will go on and...on..." —Celine Dion

"Titanic" will forever remain one of the best movies to ever grace the silver screen. The story revolves around the romantic relationship between Jack, a normal guy and Rose, who belongs to the upper class of society. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet absolutely nail their roles as Jack and Rose, respectively.

5. "The Silence Of The Lambs"

The plot revolves around Jodie Foster, who is a top FBI student, being assigned to talk to Hannibal Lector, who is a brilliant psychologist but also a violent psychopath. Foster is instructed to gather his views on a case that the FBI is working on and it proves incredibly difficult. The movie is outstanding and should definitely not be missed.

6. "Gladiator"

"Gladiator" will forever be Russel Crowe's best movie to date. The plot follows the character portrayed by Russel Crowe as he plots revenge against the king who had betrayed him and murdered his family. Russel Crowe is outstanding as Maximus and also won his first Academy Award for "Best Actor."

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. "Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
