On Sunday morning at 11 am, the animal welfare alliance club of UNH hosted a 5K with all proceeds benefiting Pope Memorial SPCA. These proceeds being used for things such as medical expenses of the animals, housing/shelter and overall funding for the local animal shelter because shelters are non-prprofit organizations. A group of animal lovers from the University of New Hampshire spent an entire year planning this event which among other events is definitely involves the most planning. Many people from the local community took part in this amazing cause as well. People brought their families and of course adorable pups to the event also.
Other than the 5K there were also therapy dogs for runners to pet, raffle baskets with prizes such as gift cards to "Art With A Splash" and local restaurants, and of course prizes focused to the animals as well. There were stations to make bandanas for your pets. Tents were set up with the Animal Rights League and a Pope Memorial Representative himself supporting the event. The 3 mile run/walk took place in college woods where the trail was marked with paws along side the trees. The 5K Paws for a Cause was successful to say the least.
This race shows the local community how important it is to support our local animal rescue leagues and how great it is to give back especially to a cause like such. As an active member of the animal welfare alliance club at the University of New Hampshire I would like to say thank you so much to everyone who attended today and that support means everything to us and of course the animals of Pope Memorial SPCA looking for their forever homes.
