Ah, young love. One of the most beautiful things to exist on our dear planet Earth. While I love seeing two people in love as much as the next guy and Valentine's Day happens to be my favorite holiday, the thought of being tied-down and completely committed to another human being at the mere age of twenty gives me the heebie jeebies. Literally. Sometimes I get physically frightened.

Maybe it is due to the recent holiday season or maybe I am just becoming more aware, but recently I have been noticing the plethora of women my age receiving promise rings from their significant others. I guess I am just old-fashioned or ignorant or just incredibly dense, but I don't understand the purpose of a promise ring in the first place?! Isn't it the same thing as an engagement ring, without as many strings and commitments attached? Someone please tell me I'm wrong.

In addition to seriously just not getting the point of them, the idea and what a promise ring represents just freaks me out. I have always been incredibly independent and loved being on my own. I am good at it. I excel when I am traveling through life alone. It's incredibly difficult -- if notimpossible -- for me to remember the things I want and need when I depend on someone else for anything: happiness, love, contentment, joy, etc.

I realize it is possible for some to hold on for dear life to themselves while letting someone else enhance their happiness, love, contentment, joy, etc. I truly envy those who have learned to lean on others while being able to remember their true selves.

Regardless of what a promise ring signifies or how you feel about them, I will always be an advocate for independence and growth. Somehow, I truly believe promise rings and all the baggage they bring with them will only get in my way.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo
