We are the kids of the 90s. We grew up when things were changing and the world was supposed to end. We wore miniskirts and converse, and we didn’t find anything wrong with walking to school.
Walkmans were blasting NOW’s latest release and we were begging our parents for the newest Heely Sneakers. Technology was up and coming, but we were still out playing in the dirt.
We had our best friends over every weekend, as we tried to come up with a secret dance to *NSYNC’s new hit song. We ate popsicles in the summer heat and played kickball at the nearest baseball field.
All the while, these songs played in the background. They represented who we were as the generation stuck in the middle.
No one knows for sure what generation we fall under. And that’s probably how it will be forever because the children of the 90s stand apart from the rest. We are a generation that was stuck in the midst of it all and came out on top.
We grew up in a world where things were changing right under our noses, but it’s the songs of our era that truly define the type of people we are.
So, here’s to being a 90s kid and loving the music that will never get old!
