55 Life Lessons

1. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living life, or get busy dying.

2. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

3. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

4. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

5. Burn the candles, wear the shoes, use the nice sheets and towels, wear the fancy panties. Don't save for a special occasion. Everyday is special.

6. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

7. Every time "disaster" strikes, ask yourself: "Will this matter in 3 years?"

8. What other people think of you is none of your business.

9. No matter how good or bad a situation is, it will always change.

10. Get outside everyday. Fresh air is good for the soul.

11. Try to live minimalistic. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or makes you happy.

12. The best is yet to come.

13. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and never give up.

14. If you don't ask, you won't get it.

15. Life isn't always fair, but it's still good.

16. Travel while you are young and able. Don't wait until the time is right, because the time will never be right.

17. Life is way to short to waste your time and energy hating anyone.

18. Material possessions won't make you better or happier.

19. Stop comparing yourself to others, focus on being a better version of yourself.

20. Achievements and success won't matter nearly as much as precious memories and moments will on your death bed.

21. Actions speak louder than words. Don't influence others with words, but your actions.

22. You will die, and you have no idea when. Live and cherish every moment. Stop waiting for tomorrow.

23. Give people a second chance, but never a third.

24. Be the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.

25. Don't let your phone interrupt important moments.

26. Be modest and humble.

27. Don't ever burn a bridge. You never know when you will need to cross the same river twice.

28. Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.

29. No one makes it in this life alone. Be thankful and praise the ones who help you.

30. You are in charge of your attitude, no one else.

31. The world doesn't owe you anything, you have to make your own away.

32. Your upbringing doesn't define how you live your life. You can break the cycle and become better.

33. Show respect for everyone who works for a living, regardless of how trivial their job is.

34. Always say please and thank you.

35. Bring a side dish if you are invited to a meal, even if they tell you not to.

36. You should always gift the bride and groom enough to cover at least what your meal cost.

38. Never pass up time spent with your grandparents. You'll never know when they will be gone.

39. Don't pose or post with booze.

40. Admit when you're wrong.

41. Know at least one good joke, how to cook one good meal, how to drive a manual/ stick shift and how to change a tire.

42. Be a good listener. Listen to understand, not to reply.

43. There is a fine line between looking sultry and slutty. Know the difference.

44. You will never "find" time. You have to make time.

45. Once a cheater, always a cheater.

46. There is nothing wrong with living a private life.

47. Don't air out your dirty laundry on social media. It makes you look bad and immature.

48. Don't fear being alone. Alone time is healthy for the soul and personal development. Be happy on your own. Don't seek out someone else to validate your existence.

49. If you make a commitment to someone, follow through.

50. Exercise is the most potent and underutilized antidepressant and it's free.

51. Surround yourself with people who talk about visions and ideas, not other people.

52. Fill your life with adventure, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.

53. You are always responsible for how you act, not matter how you feel.

54. Stay optimistic. Nothing good comes from a pity party and a negative attitude.

55. Always live for the moments you can't put into words. You only have one life, make it worth it.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
