Why You Should Live On Lake Hopatcong

Imagine the perfect place to live in the United States. Maybe the seasons would change four times in one year and your home would be near a body of water. Maybe that body of water is a lake or even an ocean? Or both. What if a big city was a drive away and one could spend a single night where the rest of the population travels days to vacation? The perfect place to one will most definitely be the worst place to live to others; however, if you could take into consideration what it would be like to have everything in one place, how could you pass that up?

Living on Lake Hopatcong is like a four course meal.

As an appetizer, you will find that this suburban residential lake is located in New Jersey. There are four seasons, therefore you could take the hour drive up to the Pocono Mountains to go skiing from November to March, and take the hour and a half drive to The Jersey Shore in the summer to spend a day swimming in the Atlantic.

For your soup or salad, one could go camping, tubing and white water rafting through the Delaware River on Saturday and take a trip into New York City for lunch on Sunday. 30 miles from the Delaware River and 40 miles from New York City, at the edge of Sussex and Morris counties, Lake Hopatcong is in the perfect spot.

As an entree, Lake Hopatcong will serve you with an amazing life living on New Jersey's largest freshwater body of water. Produced by the damming and flooding of two ponds and the Musconetcong River as a natural outlet for water, the once resort lake is known for its many extravagant life experiences. Days spent boating, tubing and participating in water sports in the summer heat are times one will remember forever. If you'd rather just swim and do some diving tricks, one can join one of the many beach clubs scattered all over the four square mile long lake. If you're older and want somewhere to grab a drink after dinner you could do that while listening to the movement of the water when you park your boat at one of the many restaurants found on the lake as well. Life on Lake Hopatcong is deliciously unique.

To top off the amazing quality of life one gets when living on Lake Hopatcong, for dessert, the already perfect place serves you with the most genuine people. Whether it be a friend, family, neighbor, teacher, boss, or colleague, the people who live on or near Lake Hopatcong are unlike any people you'll ever meet. They do live at one of the most perfect places to live in the United States, therefore they must be special. And I promise you, they are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
