I’ve been to Disney once before when I was about 7 years old. I couldn’t tell you my favorite ride or even one ride I rode, but I can tell you that I specifically wore my 1-inch high tennis shoes to get on a few extra rides and that my scalp got burned because my hair was braided back. I can also tell you that I had never had more fun in my whole 7 years of living than I did that day. That’s why I decided that instead of taking my senior trip to New York, or Mexico, or LA, I am going to Orlando, Florida, and going to see Cinderella and her castle.
With all of the stress of senior year and going to college, I want to take a break and go to the “happiest place on earth”. I want to have as much fun as I did when I was 7 years old and feel that young again.
Disney isn’t a place that’s just for kids, it has a little bit of everything for everyone. However, at 18 I feel like I can appreciate what they have for the older crowds. but also go and take advantage of the things they have for the younger crowds just to reminisce on the past. I can pick and choose what I want to be a part of, though, I'm not limited to just little kid or just big “kid” things. I can ride all the roller coasters I want, but I can also go eat breakfast with the princesses. I can (finally) stay up late enough to see the fireworks, but I can also have my picture taken with Every. Single. Disney Character. (If you wouldn’t be excited about that, you should at least watch one Disney movie.)
I really couldn’t tell you what I’m most excited about, but I do have high expectations for the food and snacks that they have. From the Dole Whip to Mickey’s macaroons, I love sweets and do believe that they will be the only thing giving me enough energy to do everything I want to do. When you're trying to fit everything that you have been wanting to do at Disney for 11 years into one day...well, you're going to need to get there right when they open and pretty much stay until they kick you out.
One of the last reasons why I am most excited to go to Disney as an 18-year-old is because I get to be independent in everything I do. I don't have someone dragging me around, I'm not obligated to go where I don't want to go just because someone else wants to. Everything is also within my own budget, so if I want to splurge and have a dinner at Chef Mickey’s then I can because I'm the one paying for it! As a kid you don't get to experience this, it's where your parents want to go, it's where your family wants to go, but as an 18-year old it's all about where you want to go.
