50 Thoughts While Watching Grease Live

Everyone loves classic movies, especially Grease.

Usually I'm skeptical and pretty unhappy when a remake of a classic movie is announced. For example: The Sound of Music. Let's not even pause to reminisce that disaster. But to my surprise, I was really excited about the remake of Grease! Maybe it was the stellar cast or the vibrant set designs in every commercial, but I couldn't wait to see this production.

Here are some of the thoughts I had while watching it. If you haven't seen it, it's available online for free. Follow along with my article, and see if you have the same reactions I did.

1. Jessie J's version of Grease... flawless.

This backstage/outdoor tour is so neat. It makes it less of a remake and more of a regular performance of a classic.

2. OMG THE T-BIRDS. Cue heart eyes.

3. Aaron Tveit, you do not look like a bad boy.

4. Vanessa Hudgens definitely lowered her voice an octave to make Rizzo sound as sassy as she is.

5. Summer lovin'. Classic.

6. That cheerleading scene though... Who even are you Patty?

7. Settle. Settle. Settle.

8. This "Freddy My Love" song is kind of random, but I like it. Keke Palmer straight killin' it.

9. Wait, where'd that red dress come from????

10. Wow, Vanessa Hudgens is such a tiny person.

11. Aw, sad Sandy. Keep the lipstick on girl, your lips are ghostly pale.

12. IS IT "GREASED LIGHTNING" TIME YET!?

13. Nope, gotta wait for Riz and Kenickie to make unwise decisions.

14. YAS, GREASED LIGHTNING OH GREASED LIGHTNING.

15. I'm so impressed by these costume changes! Also, the singing and dancing combo is pretty impressive.

16. Who are these random girls in capri pants?

17. Wow. My heart fluttered when Danny looked at Sandy on her date with someone else.

18. I actually laughed out loud at this scene. Get out of here, Tom.

19. Who is this guy with the guitar? He's adorable! This transition into Danny going out for sports is so smooth, wow.

20. Wow. Danny's gym outfit. Be still my heart.

21. Aw, that was a sweetly unexpected duet.

22. Did anyone catch that line by Sandy/Julianne Hough?

"Who wants to watch amateurs dance on TV anyways?" Hilarious, Julianne.

23. "Beauty School Dropout" time!?

24. Wait, what is this song? Please don't let it be in place of "Beauty School Dropout".

25. Ah, yes, my song. I catch myself singing this song shockingly often.

26. THE DANCE! So ready for some 50's style dancing.

27. Wait...

28. JOE JONAS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?

29. I love 50's dancing so much it hurts. Can we go back please?

30. My heart melted into a puddle when Sandy is all camera shy, and Danny tells her to focus on his eyes.

31. Oh Danny, ya done messed up.

32. Hopelessly Devoted = teen angst. Still my jam though.

33. What even are these morning announcements!?

34. I just realized cramming people in the trunk to save money at the drive in is actually me. Hashtag college.

35. Sandy, why aren't you sitting closer to ya boy??

36. Shame, shame... another strike Danny boy.

37. EUGENE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? RADIATION??

38. Wow, just cried my eyes out to this:

39. I don't know how I feel about Danny injuring Kenickie on purpose? Friendship, I guess.

40. Cue heart melt again, when Danny's talking to Sandy before the race. Cue tears streaming down my face.

41. Wow, what an interesting way of doing the racing scene... I don't dislike it. Just thinking about the fact that the cars aren't moving at all though makes me laugh.

42. FRENCHIE, WE GOT ANOTHER VICTIM! Classic Rizzo.

43. Why didn't my high school do a carnival at the end of school?

44. Patty and Eugene... what strange sexual tension.

45. "If that's a line, I ain't bitin'." Riz and Kenickie forever.

46. Not gonna lie, Danny looks like a noob in that letter sweater.

47. "TELL ME ABOUT IT, STUD."

48. Danny got the crazy eyes when starting "We Go Together".

49. GOLF CARTS. A little strange, but I love it.

50. I'm now in a puddle of tears at the cast taking turns bowing. I feel like I'm a part of this Grease Live fam somehow? Or I want to be. #castgoals. That was amazing.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
